meet DDAT

DDAT consists of four talented musicians - Chris Bidtah (vocals), Delbert Anderson (trumpet), Nicholas Lucero (drums) and Mike McCluhan (bass).   All touring artists both nationally and internationally - one impromptu group performance at a festival sparked the fire that has burned across the country and is now known as DDAT. 

Named by NPR as one of the top 10 bands in the US - DDAT combines hip hop, jazz, funk and soul to their original southwestern feel and genre.   Performances by DDAT are known to be full of energy and excitement.

Audiences never know what to expect....dancing, improvisation, audience participation, live painting - sky's the limit at a DDAT show!  DDAT creates a unique exciting tie with audiences of all ages who appreciate live performing arts. 

Music from the quartet has been heard all over the world with features on National Public Radio (NPR
), Sirius XM, Indian Country Today, SAY Magazine, Weekly Alibi and many more. DDAT tours include several West Coast Tours, Canada’s Music is Medicine Tour, Aboriginal Music Week Tour in Canada,  and Van’s Warped Tour - USA.

 


DDAT recently completed their world premiere of the DDAT Suite - Three DDAT originals arranged for wind symphony. (Please see Arrangements for Concert Band). Their first album "DDAT" will be available in early 2017. DDAT has tours and residencies coming up which will include the US, Columbia, Australia and Hawaii. DDAT will be working with several independent film companies in 2017 and 2018.

MIke McCluhan (Mike)

Hailing from NY originally - Mike has had a long career playing bass with literally countless artists. Drawing heavily from such varied musicians such as The Grateful Dead to Charles Mingus - Mike is well known for his versatility and his innate ability to play any style of music and play it well. Mike provides music education for various communities through private instruction. Mike provides the jam and groove for DDAT and is excited to share and explore hidden territories of music!

Christopher Bidtah (Def-i)

Through hard work and perseverance, Def-i stands as one of the indefectible factors of Hip-Hop in the Southwest, continuing to provide listeners with quality music/sound. This triple threat mc/producer/sound engineer holds the experience and essential aptitude to be classified amongst any top-quality Hip-Hop artist, worldwide. In a profession that is highly competitive and ever-progressive throughout our times, it is safe to say that Def-i represents living proof of Hip-Hop flourishing over the Southwest and beyond.

Nicholas Lucero (Nick)

Born in Albuquerque, NM and raised in Southern Colorado - Nicholas has had the opportunity to play with several great jazz artists. Playing music since he was 5 - Nicholas played Tenor Sax, Piano and Marimba but eventually found his voice on the drums. Focusing mostly on Jazz and being heavily influenced by artists such as Chick Corea and John Coltrane - Nicholas has used his playing as a vehicle to perform across the US, Canada, and Europe. Nicholas is focused on bringing DDAT's musical perspective to the scene and constantly pushing the envelope with DDAT's playing.

Delbert Anderson (Delbert)

Jazz educator and performer, Delbert Anderson
began his music career in 2006 while attending
Eastern New Mexico University. Anderson studied and performed with many of today’s jazz greats. Anderson is an up-and-coming composer and arranger with many successful national music projects. Delbert created
DAT (Delbert Anderson Trio) in 2013 which later developed into DDAT. Anderson’s schedule consists of music education and active performing/touring. Anderson was highly influenced by Lee Morgan, Clifford Brown, Sonny Rollins, and Joshua Redman. Anderson continues to push the limits of fusion music and be an ambassador of Navajo Cultural Music.
